Everyone's Building AI Meta-Tools, but Someday You Have to Do the Thing
louisvarge · x · 2026-10-11
The author observes that in 2026 everyone he knows works on AI because it's a force amplifier, and everyone wants to play the meta level of recursive self-improvement.
But he argues there will always be lower-level work that actually matters, and the argument that "RSI has better EV than doing the thing" persists forever — evolution itself has made that argument for a billion years, yet we ended up in a world of factory farming, loneliness, depression and insomnia.
His conclusion: whatever reasoning you use to defer will lead to doing it never, so at some point you must flip the sign and actually do the thing.
