Landlord earning ~$1M/month makes the bear case: AI agents threaten Airbnb's 15.5% take rate
Scobleizer · x · 2026-10-11
A blogger whose portfolio of high-end Airbnb listings generates nearly $1M a month has turned bearish: Airbnb's mandatory host-side commission now sits at 15.5%, an all-time-high middleman tax. He argues AI agents (Hark, Dot, Muse, Grok Bot, etc.) will bypass siloed booking apps and heavy platform tolls to compare and book vacation rentals directly — an existential threat to Airbnb that most of the market is missing.
