gemini-cli VSCode extension leaked disposables due to comma-expression bug in activate()
nosmile99 · ghdev · 2026-10-11
- Developer nosmile99 opened PR #29709 against google-gemini/gemini-cli to fix a resource leak in the VSCode IDE companion extension (issue #27790).
- Root cause: extra parentheses in activate() turned two pairs of registrations into comma expressions, so only the last Disposable of each pair reached context.subscriptions.push() — the gemini.diff.accept command and an onDidChangeWorkspaceFolders listener were registered but never tracked, leaking on deactivation.
- The fix removes the extra parens and adds a regression test asserting all four disposables are tracked; the new test fails on unfixed code, vitest 13/13 green, eslint clean.
- The author also notes earlier PRs for this issue were auto-closed by the stale bot because #27790 lacks the help wanted label.
