nodered-mcp: open-source MCP server for AI to read, edit and deploy Node-RED flows
Business_Treacle4462 · reddit · 2026-10-10
An open-source MCP server (run with uvx nodered-mcp) lets MCP clients work on Node-RED through structured tools:
- Understand flows: search nodes, inspect connections, trace wires, explore tabs and groups
- Edit flows: create, update, delete, duplicate, and rewire nodes
- Layouts: find free canvas space, detect overlaps, organize groups
- Batch changes: stage multiple edits and deploy together
- Review & undo: inspect diffs before deploy, roll back individual edits
- Safety: detect stale changes and block edits causing new layout collisions
Connects via the Admin API to a running Node-RED instance (no host filesystem access needed), or works directly on a flows. file. Repo: ljmerza/nodered-mcp.
