Claude now spams chat users with permission prompts for harmless sandboxed commands
Grand-Excitement5440 · reddit · 2026-10-11
A Reddit user reports that since Claude merged its cowork feature into chat, they're getting constant "Claude wants to run a command" permission prompts — even in plain chat sessions where no local execution was expected.
When asked, Claude explained the Bash commands only touch its own workspace files (unzipping uploads, testing on a mock tree) and never run on the user's machine — but it couldn't explain why some commands trigger prompts and others don't, and there's no way to disable them.
The post highlights a mismatch between the new permission-prompt granularity and user expectations, with even the model itself unable to justify the trigger logic.
