Adding Flexi-Tac Touch Sensors to SO101 Robots Boosts Policy Convergence and Efficiency
k7agar · x · 2026-10-11
In the 'Mission Mimosa' project, builders added a flexi-tac tactile sensor to an SO101 robot and found that tactile data makes multimodal robot policies converge faster and more sample-efficiently — higher success rates with fewer demonstrations.
The team says next steps are producing more robust and diverse tactile sensors and building a tactile-first policy. A concrete DIY demonstration that touch sensing meaningfully improves learning on an open-source robot platform.
