On Oct 8, Huawei opened public beta for its DevEco trio on HarmonyOS PCs, bringing AI-assisted development into the native OS toolchain.
The three tools:
- DevEco Studio: visual IDE on Huawei's BitFun base with fast startup, low memory, built-in DevEco Code for agentic development, and simulator-free virtual devices that boot instantly with multi-window parallel debugging across phone/tablet/foldable form factors
- DevEco Code: end-to-end agentic tool with HarmonyOS knowledge, Skills, and MCP tools, offering Plan+Build (review then execute) and Goal (autonomous spec-to-app with verification) modes for controllable AI coding
- DevEco CLI: wraps the HarmonyOS toolchain, docs, and 70+ Skills into AI-callable command-line interfaces; one init command installs Skills across multiple agent tools without switching environments
The rollout follows HarmonyOS 6/7 devices surpassing 90 million units, and turns the HarmonyOS PC from an app-running terminal into a native development workstation.
