marclou tells indie hacker to kill product making $145/mo after a year
marclou · x · 2026-10-10
On X, marclou publicly critiqued indie hacker stemonteduro's product DailyGram (which tracks social media profiles and sends AI-generated email digests of updates), advising:
- Painkillers only, no vitamins: a vitamin-like product targeting indie hackers won't find a market;
- Kill the free plan and charge high prices;
- Move beyond indie hackers and go B2B.
Citing the founder's TrustMRR page, he noted the product has made just $145/mo after more than a year — a clear sign the market isn't answering. He added that most of the founder's dozen other projects could be vibe-coded in 24 hours, and that once-novel stunts (levelsio's Bali move, his own one-startup-per-month) have been normalized by the AI era, demanding new differentiation.
