opencode bug: cross-provider tool-call IDs exceed length limits and brick sessions
ton618to · ghdev · 2026-10-09
A reproduced high-severity bug in anomalyco/opencode: when switching models/providers or resuming sessions, provider-native tool-call IDs are replayed verbatim to OpenAI-compatible endpoints that cap toolcallid at 40/64 chars. Vertex/Gemini (and gateways like SAP AI Core) can emit IDs over 1000 chars (measured 1262) with embedded signatures, causing permanent HTTP 400 failures. Since the oversized IDs are persisted in history, every subsequent request fails, and recovery requires a new session or manual storage edits. Root cause: no length normalization anywhere in the request serialization path.
