Oil UI Launches as Cola Skill: An Interface Design Skill for AI Agents
oran_ge · x · 2026-10-10
Designer/developer oil-oil released Oil UI as a Cola Skill — an interface design skill built for AI agents.
How it works:
- First identifies the product category and finds the two or three most distinctive references in that space, then pulls apart several genuinely different design directions for side-by-side comparison;
- Translates vague words like "premium" or "clean" into concrete choices of type, whitespace and color ratios;
- Across directions, at most one of layout/type/color/key visual may overlap — if too similar, it redoes the layout rather than swapping colors;
- Delivers a style comparison page (switch desktop/mobile sizes, arrow-key browsing, click "select" to copy a one-line instruction back to the agent);
- Finishes with dual-viewport screenshot checks and a subtraction pass — one hero per page.
Supports greenfield design, multi-direction exploration, visual polish, screenshot-based reproduction, and review-only (no file changes). The open-source version covers design directions, comparison page, visuals/motion and screenshot reproduction; Pro adds independent scoring review, interaction states/forms/modals, admin layouts and legacy-project refactors. Don't install both — they compete for the same requests. Pairs with draw-ui (generate image first, then implement) and oil-motion.
