Solo founder's Claude Code audit of its own backend finds 6 silent bugs, incl. a server-crashing request
Secret-Advantage-300 · reddit · 2026-10-10
A solo founder whose app was largely written by Claude Code (Node/Render/Supabase/Stripe/Lovable) ran a dedicated audit through three lenses — security, efficiency, silent infra bugs — and found serious issues in code the agent itself had written:
- Rate limiting never worked: the proxy wasn't trusted, so everyone shared one IP-based limit.
- One malformed request could crash the whole server (Express 4 doesn't catch async route errors).
- The Stripe webhook could lose paid orders — it ACKed Stripe even when the DB write failed, so Stripe never retried.
- Corporate email scanners could unsubscribe readers by clicking the one-click link.
- The pricing page showed 145 dead models, one priced at -$1,000,000, plus a silent 1,000-row cap.
- Review averages were overwritten with zeros for missing ratings.
Takeaways: agents write code that only works on the happy path; asking the same agent for a dedicated audit with specific lenses surfaces what it missed the first time; and verify fixes on production instead of trusting "done". He now plans audits every 2-3 months.
