A prompt to kill the 'AI look': make Claude drop purple gradients and Inter before building

dr_cintas · x · 2026-10-10

AI-built sites are instantly recognizable: purple-to-blue gradients, Inter everywhere, three identical feature cards. The author shares a prompt to paste into Claude that makes it act as a senior product designer with strong opinions, starting from an explicit never-use list — gradient text, frosted-glass cards, icon-in-rounded-square headings, giant stat numbers, numbered section labels, beige-plus-italic-serif clichés.

Instead it prescribes: 3 sentences defining audience/feel/reference outside tech, one justified typeface pairing, a palette with WCAG AA contrast, varied layouts with at least one grid break, founder-voice copy, and one product-specific signature detail. The model must then check the code against the list item by item and report fixes.
