HIVE: open-source multi-agent research tool that attaches confidence to LLM answers
BeesAndBytes · reddit · 2026-10-10
A Redditor open-sourced HIVE (Hive Inspired Virtual Entity), a local research system built to catch things "all LLMs agree on that may be wrong" using a swarm architecture:
- Design: nine foragers examine a question from angles like risk, evidence, history and ethics, seeing each other's work and fully configurable; a queen writes one verdict with an agreement strength; shared memory ("the comb") carries findings across runs; guard bees prevent unknowns slipping in as guarantees;
- Scope: for questions with a single right answer, just ask an LLM directly — HIVE targets ambiguity, leaning on unpaywall and DOI search of verified whitepapers;
- Usage: ollama pull qwen3.6:35b-a3b-q4KM then chb ask "..." --profile local-fast; 4B/8B models are still rough for the full tool chain;
- Built and tested on an M1 Max with 64GB RAM.
