Save hundreds on flights: the ChatGPT prompt + MCP connector trick for real total prices
Calm_Cartographer324 · reddit · 2026-10-10
A Redditor shares how to use LLMs to book the cheapest flights, with two key tricks:
- Fully-specified prompts: instead of "find me a flight from X to Y", state passenger ages, bags, budget, max total travel time, layover limits and refundability, and demand the TOTAL price including bags and seat selection — otherwise you get dirt-cheap 30+ hour options;
- Live inventory connector: ChatGPT's built-in web search often guesses or pulls stale prices, so plug in a flight booking MCP connector to compare real offers.
The approach surfaces hidden fees across dozens of booking sites no human would check manually. Works with Claude, Grok and other LLMs too.
