OpenCode desktop app 500s on prompt API when sharing DB with newer CLI 2.0.10
CultureDigitali · ghdev · 2026-10-09
The issue: OpenCode desktop app 1.18.35 (macOS arm64) and the Homebrew CLI 2.0.10 share one SQLite database (/.local/share/opencode/opencode.db). Submitting a user prompt through the desktop sidecar HTTP API via POST /api/session/{id}/prompt returns HTTP 500, with the server log showing no such table: sessioninput. Interactive messaging from the app UI works fine on the same session — only the HTTP prompt-admission path is broken.
Root cause:
- The desktop app runtime (June-era bundle) still writes prompts through sessioninput and sessioncontextepoch tables;
- The shared DB's migration journal has been advanced by the newer CLI lineage (September-era schema), which dropped those tables;
- So the combination of "old app runtime + new CLI schema" breaks the HTTP prompt path on writes to the now-missing tables.
Environment details: the sidecar and the CLI background service run separate HTTP endpoints with separate basic-auth credentials but share one database (verified via lsof on the sidecar PID). The issue is currently labeled pending close / triaging with 4 comments.
