Open-source Claude Code mod uses Haiku to auto-pick the best model and effort per task
Intelligent-Crew-576 · reddit · 2026-10-09
A Reddit user released an MIT-licensed Claude Code mod that uses Haiku 5.5 (or Jev) at runtime to read recent context and automatically choose the best model (Haiku/Sonnet/Opus) and effort level per prompt. It avoids mid-task model switches, warns when the prompt cache goes cold or the chat gets long, and notes effort changes on Opus/Sonnet don't rebuild cache while on Fable they do—so auto-switching is disabled there. It also offers smart handoff suggestions when it detects a task change. Built with Claude Code itself; free and open source with a 3-step setup site.
