LocalCloud MCP: a free local cloud environment for coding agents, open sourced
jhsonline · reddit · 2026-10-09
The maintainer announced LocalCloud MCP, which connects coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) to a free local cloud environment for Google Cloud applications. It provides service discovery, SDK settings, readiness checks, resource inspection, supported queries, and diagnostics, letting apps use standard Google Cloud SDKs against local endpoints.
- Runnable examples assert Cloud Storage upload/read-back, Pub/Sub publish/pull/ack, and BigQuery SELECT 1 through MCP and the SDK, with uniquely named resources cleaned up afterward
- Requires Docker, LocalCloud CLI 0.1.9+, runtime 0.1.5+; installs via Homebrew and lc mcp install --client cursor
- Verified on released ARM64 images and AMD64 under emulation; not claimed as full Google Cloud production parity
Free and open source on GitHub.
