Responding to François Fleuret's metaphor of skilled mushroom hunters meeting eager labradors, DeepMind researcher François Charton says wait a year before waxing metaphoric: the last group "replaced" was coders, and a year and a half after vibe coding took off, we see slop and bloated code — not the incredible progress it was supposed to unlock.
