WHOOP keeps logging easy runs as Zone 5, user says Apple Watch gets it right
marclou · x · 2026-10-09
Developer marclou reports that WHOOP badly mismeasures heart rate during runs: a 55-minute Zone 2 run was logged as 55 minutes in Zone 5, regardless of strap tightness or placement, and his wife sees the same issue — while an Apple Watch recorded the run correctly.
Oddly, WHOOP performs fine for biking, rowing, lifting, and even ski erg workouts, suggesting the problem is specific to its running heart-rate sampling.
