Personal AI agents may rapidly widen inequality via agent-to-agent negotiations
JenniferHli · x · 2026-10-09
Rayan Krishnan offers a first-principles argument that the diffusion of personal agents (Grok bot, Muse, Dots, Instinct, etc.) may cause a rapid, unprepared-for rise in socioeconomic inequality:
- Life is a set of negotiations.
- As personal agents improve, we delegate more negotiations to them.
- Negotiations increasingly happen agent-to-agent.
- Agent performance scales with model intelligence and inference-time compute.
- Agents consuming more frontier intelligence win more negotiations in expectation.
- People with more resources can afford better agents.
- Winning negotiations begets more resources.
Conclusion: the wealthy get better agents, win more negotiations, and accumulate more resources — a self-reinforcing loop society isn't ready for.
