Running Claude Code in YOLO Mode Without Getting Burned: A Practical Guide
Arindam_1729 · x · 2026-10-09
The author shares how to run Claude Code (--dangerously-skip-permissions), Codex, and Cursor with full auto-approve while making a bad run cost nothing.
Key risk: an agent that approves its own tool calls has all your access—SSH keys, browser sessions, home folder, /.aws credentials, every token in your shell environment. This isn't theoretical: earlier this month a developer reported Claude Code deleted 48,218 live files in 103 seconds after a cleanup script followed Windows folder links into the real project instead of an isolated copy.
The conclusion isn't to stop using YOLO mode, but to set up isolation and tightened permissions so a bad run costs you nothing.
