Journal editor recruits engineer peer reviewers: no PhD needed, but no AI either
lemire · x · 2026-10-09
Daniel Lemire, editor at Software: Practice and Experience, is recruiting working software engineers as occasional peer reviewers — no PhD required, just a genuine interest in reading papers (unpaid). He admits Claude reviews papers "fairly well," but what he cares about is whether humans find a paper useful. He also predicts the conventional peer-review system may collapse soon as AI outperforms humans at writing and reviewing papers.
