Self-hosted Gmail MCP serves multiple accounts to Claude and Codex via one endpoint
CodeCoffeeCocktails · reddit · 2026-10-08
- An open-source (MIT) self-hosted Gmail MCP, gmail-mcp, lets Claude and Codex operate personal and work Gmail accounts with explicit mailbox selection per call.
- One Streamable HTTP endpoint; account aliases (personal/work) are required on every tool call. Supports search, reading, label lookup, plain-text drafts, optional draft sending and label management.
- Security: owner-only Google login, OAuth with PKCE, encrypted credential storage, your own Google OAuth project.
- Deployment: Node 24, Linux/systemd, Cloudflare Tunnel for HTTPS; headless enrollment via browser + SSH forwarding.
- Known limits: Google's compose scope grants send permission even in drafts-only mode, and send approval is handled client-side with no separate server-side screen.
