Nous Research raised $90 million at a $1.5 billion valuation after its open-source Hermes agent exploded in usage: 22.7 million downloads since February, roughly $36 million in annualized revenue by mid-September, and expectations to pass $100 million later this year. Hesamation recalled the company started as a few people doing independent AI research on a Discord server — "you can just do things."
