GitHub Copilot to decide on-device vs cloud-scale models per task, Microsoft details HydraFusion
mariorod1 · x · 2026-10-08
Microsoft's Command Line blog details bringing local models and sandboxed tools to Windows and GitHub Copilot. Coming soon, Copilot will determine whether a task is best handled by on-device intelligence or cloud-scale models, giving developers choice and control over speed, performance, and cost per task. The effort is part of Project HydraFusion, layered on GitHub's existing frontier-model options to give agents clear boundaries and flexible model selection.
