OpenAI announced it will test a new visual ad format during ChatGPT image generation, starting later this month in the US with Free and Go plan users. Ads will be labeled and kept separate from generated images; OpenAI says advertising won't influence answers and, with 1.2 billion weekly users, ads let it serve far more people than subscriptions alone.
