Veteran journalist Kevin Roose left the NYT to co-host an NPR podcast and published The AGI Chronicles, a history of the race to build superintelligence. In a Business Insider interview, he argues Dario Amodei and Sam Altman are racing to build AI partly out of fear that someone less responsible gets there first, and puts doomsday odds at 10% — making him an optimist by SF standards.
