Ethan Mollick: AI's rapid scientific progress is rewriting the norms of science itself

Responding to reports that OpenAI cracked or made major progress on hundreds of big problems in a day, Ethan Mollick argues the underlying norms of science will change — some because AI can better live up to ideals like disinterestedness, some because they may no longer apply. He adds that in his own field of economic sociology, nearly autonomous AI research is reaching top-journal level.
