Robotics is finally getting the recognition it deserves — venture capital, talent flows, and AI progress all point to automating the physical world despite its messiness. The author argues roboticists are Renaissance generalists because "atoms are harder to control than bits": they need software engineering fluency in Python/C++ with ROS 2 and simulators, plus AI/ML for perception, bridging software with the physical world.
