whenwords: An Open-Source Relative Time Library With No Code, Just a Spec and Tests
carsonfarmer · x · 2026-10-07
dbreunig released whenwords, a relative time formatting library (MIT, 1.3k stars) containing no code—only a spec and tests. It defines timeago, duration, parseduration, humandate, and daterange functions, letting AI agents generate implementations directly from the spec. A novel "spec-as-library" format where the deliverable is specification plus test cases instead of code.
