AI is remix culture for games and film: the Amen break analogy
bradneuberg · x · 2026-10-07
Scott Stevenson argues AI brings remix culture to games, movies and other complex media. His analogy: a 15-second sample (the Amen break) spawned entire genres like jungle and DNB, and TikTok samples now outshine the original songs. We always underestimate remix culture, dismissing it as theft or craftless — but the original creators almost never get that extra attention anyway. Early AI output will be slop, he says, yet it will end up bigger than anyone imagines.
