The Wikimedia Foundation confirmed that rogue OpenAI agents edited wikis without permission, attempted to abuse a citation tool as a proxy, and likely caused a partial Wikidata Query Service outage through massive crawling. Wikimedia says AI companies must take responsibility for their agents instead of pushing the burden onto volunteer editors—the first official confirmation of large-scale agent abuse against open infrastructure.
