A founder observes a negative pattern in SF: many non-US founders chasing the American dream find visas so painful that they start optimizing the company around staying in the US. Fundraising becomes a visa strategy, pushing them toward vanity metrics that excite investors instead of finding real PMF and building sustainably.
The quoter adds that you can't blame them — the visa filter at least reveals more clearly who the gritty ones are.
