Claude for Google Workspace enters public beta: sidebar co-editing for Docs, Sheets, Slides
claudeai · x · 2026-10-07
Anthropic launched Claude for Google Workspace in public beta on all paid plans, with two parts: an add-on and new Google Docs/Sheets/Slides connectors.
- Add-on: Claude opens in a sidebar next to your file, reads the open doc/sheet/deck and your selections, and edits directly in place.
- Docs: fixes sentences or restyles headings without touching surrounding formatting; larger rewrites appear as suggestion cards highlighting each passage, which you can apply or dismiss.
- Sheets: writes formulas, builds pivot tables and native charts, adds tabs; can pull ranges into Python for joins/cleaning and write results back, flagging over-budget items.
- Two-way: paste a Google file link or ask for a new file in Claude, and it opens beside the chat for joint editing, with access following your Google sharing permissions.
