ETH Zürich releases 25-hour IMU+PPG microgesture dataset from 66 participants

ETH Zürich's Sensing, Interaction & Perception Lab released microdpad (ACM ICMI 2026): 25 hours of synchronized, labeled IMU+PPG signals from 66 participants, including 28k microgestures and 16k negatives, plus 9 hours of aligned RGB video.
The accompanying μDPad system uses 8 wrist photodiodes to capture spatially varying tissue deformation as fingers move, combines these patterns with global IMU motion, and decodes events via a hidden Markov model enforcing valid gesture transitions for continuous input. The dataset is hosted on Hugging Face.
