celld: Self-Hosted Cloudflare Workers-Style Runtime With a Cell per AI Agent
letandrewcook · x · 2026-10-06
Open-source celld runs server-side JavaScript on your own machines and stores long-term state in a bucket you own (S3-compatible, GCS, Azure Blob), with an API and config that follow Cloudflare Workers — Workers, Durable Objects, KV, Queues, D1, R2, Workflows, Cron Triggers, and static assets.
- A cell mirrors a Durable Object: one per user, document, chat room, or AI agent, each with a private SQLite DB, single-threaded execution, HTTP/WebSocket support, and alarms.
- Nodes sharing one bucket form a fleet; idle cells hibernate to near-zero cost, and capacity scales by starting another node against the same bucket.
