First SHAIKE AI Film Festival Judges AI and Traditional Films Together, With a Tool-Disclosure Index
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-06
The first SHAIKE Film Festival ran Oct 2–3 in La Ciotat, France — the town where Louis Lumière filmed his 1895 train arrival, screening at the Eden Théâtre, the world's oldest operating cinema.
Rather than separate categories, traditional, AI-assisted, and fully generative films compete by format before one jury led by Olivier Dahan (La Vie en Rose), judged on story and emotion, craft and direction, originality, and impact. Any film using AI must file the SHAIKE Index declaring which tools were used for script, visuals, voice, and music; it doesn't affect judging, but false declarations mean disqualification. The author advises AI filmmakers to keep a running log of tools per shot for easy disclosure.
