TikTok launches conversational shopping agent while selling the ads — who does it really serve?
ML_Felix · reddit · 2026-10-06
TikTok announced a conversational shopping agent this week, described as understanding context, remembering your needs, and picking products from your data with in-app checkout. Meta's equivalent, Muse, has surpassed 5 million downloads.
The key open question: the reporting doesn't clarify whether users have control. If you ask, it's a tool; if it nudges purchases behind the scenes, the platform is deciding what you buy. And the company building it also sells the ads.
