Why AI agents stay useless at home: models can't tell what actually matters
jdjohnson · x · 2026-10-06
Sonia Baschez argues Silicon Valley keeps building agents for one-off chores (booking flights, dinner reservations, tickets) when people actually want an "AI wife": one that tracks the family calendar, remembers birthdays and buys gifts, reorders diapers, knows upcoming bills, books dentist appointments, and plans weekly meals and groceries. jdjohnson's take on why this doesn't exist yet: models still can't discern what actually matters, so you get an AI that nags you to do things nobody needs to do.
