Product Hunt launch yields 0 leads and 50 spam emails; indie dev says SEO beats it
sujingshen · x · 2026-10-06
An indie developer's post-mortem of a Product Hunt launch: 0 new leads, 50+ spam emails, and a few wasted hours. Unless you're featured on the homepage, there's basically zero visibility and you must drive every visitor yourself.
Another developer adds that PH now feels like peers hyping each other rather than real buyers; for his personal sites, SEO and a few directory sites remain the most reliable channels — modest traffic, but visitors arrive with actual intent.
