SEC filing: 80% of Anthropic's $518B compute commitments owed even if idle

Per SEC prospectuses filed by two funds investing in Anthropic, about $413.7B of its $518B compute commitments is owed whether the chips run or not — roughly $41B a year.
- Broadcom is the hardest supplier to replace: $161.2B in chip leases (mainly TPUs), the largest single block, all owed regardless of use.
- Google and Amazon are owed $221B regardless of use, much of it for TPU and Trainium capacity — locked-in payments that likely make their in-house AI chips cheaper per unit.
- Post-IPO governance: the 7 co-founders keep majority control via a Founder LLC holding one Class F share with 50.1% of the vote on key matters; the filing concedes this could produce decisions conflicting with shareholders' financial interests. Founders who quit, die, oversell, or are fired drop out of the LLC.
