Supabase Select 2026: code-first schema, Docker-free local dev, agent-run backends
dshukertjr · x · 2026-10-06
At Supabase Select, Supabase announced a "code first" push so coding agents can build and operate backends end to end, with humans deciding what gets merged.
Key announcements:
- Docker-free local dev: local Supabase runs as native processes, no Docker daemon needed (works in Claude Code sandboxes), with multiple instances per directory; in alpha, off by default.
- Declarative Schemas 2.0: schemas as SQL files with pg-delta generating migrations; project settings live in code, recoverable via supabase config pull.
- Supabase Compute: run web services and agents in any language next to your database with no time limit, each with a full Linux environment.
The goal: agents set up, inspect, and report on projects the same way developers do, from prototype to petabyte-scale Postgres.
