Teknium catalogs 305 open, hackable devices your AI agent can control and live in
Teknium · x · 2026-10-06
Teknium launched "Hermes Workshop," a device index cataloging 305 open, hackable, API-driven hardware devices across 28 families, with 1,547 worked-up use cases that Hermes Agent (or any agent) can build on, integrate with, or live inside.
The inclusion rule: every device must have a real local interface — REST, MQTT, MCP, SCPI, serial, ROS 2, or firmware the agent can rewrite and flash — keeping vendor clouds out of the loop where possible. Each card explains what the device is, why it's interesting, use cases, and exactly how the agent plugs in: a smart plug alone reports watts, but with an agent it becomes a rule; a printer with a camera can cancel its own failed prints.
The catalog also features Hermes-native gadgets, like a $15-19 Waveshare ESP32-S3 voice board with a 1.54-inch LCD and 8MB PSRAM that flashes into a gateway platform sharing the same memory, approvals, and tools as Telegram or the desktop app. Each entry comes with DIY project ideas too.
