Crawler + GPT agent scanned 5,137 jobs for $6.53, found 3 low-competition niches

An experiment combining a web crawler with a GPT agent answered "where is the online money right now?" by reading 5,137 open freelance jobs. The architecture: a cheap model (Jev) does the volume work — reading, filtering, ranking — while GPT is only called to research opportunities that look worth pursuing.
Findings — three niches where clients pay and almost nobody bids:
- Chrome extensions: $545 median, 11 bids per job
- TikTok Shop setup: $232 median, 6.5 bids per job
- Notion setup: $181 median, 3 bids per job
Cost: 9,617 calls for just $0.13. Pure GPT would have cost $58.66; the whole run came to $6.53. A useful playbook both for side-hustle research and for building low-cost agent pipelines where cheap models handle volume and expensive models handle research.
