Consciousness as the OS Window on the Brain-Computer: Real, but Not Physical
ctjlewis · x · 2026-10-06
Clarifying an earlier thread, the author argues consciousness isn't simulation-theory mysticism but a mechanistic analogy: consciousness is like a window program running on the brain-computer's OS. Your body is physical; "you" as an experience is not a touchable object, just as a monitor window is simulated by electrical interactions. Consciousness is simulated by electrochemical brain processes — genuinely real, but not physical. Describing the mechanism, he stresses, doesn't make anyone unreal.
