Windfoil: Closed-Form Coverage for Real-Time and Differentiable Vector Graphics
ssh4net · x · 2026-10-05
Matt DesLauriers presents Windfoil, a GPU-friendly algorithm that unifies rasterisation and differentiable vector graphics by evaluating the box-filtered winding number of quadratic Bézier contours in closed form. Implemented in WebGPU, it runs in a browser on consumer laptops and applies to real-time 2D rendering, print-resolution rasterisation, and a differentiable renderer. Benchmarked against Skia and Slug, it matches reference box-filtered coverage more closely than both while staying performant.
