Computational biologist Ran Blekhman says his inbox is flooded with fully AI-generated emails from prospective students. In a new post he explains why he can't bring himself to read them, and offers advice for cold emails in the AI era: generic templated content signals no genuine familiarity with his research. As polished text becomes cheap, authentic, specific signals are what stand out.
