Reddit user: Codex burned 100% quota in a week, Claude only 2%
Peleias · reddit · 2026-10-04
A developer with both Claude Max and OpenAI Pro subscriptions compared usage on the same C++ game engine project:
- Codex hit 100% usage after yesterday's reset with only 2 resets left; the author would trade all three resets for a single Opus 5.5 reset.
- Sol 6 no longer generates detailed plans, only prose, and the author calls Sol 6 and 6.1 "garbage."
- Switching to Claude, only 2% usage was consumed since Monday (98% remaining) while creating plans, executing them, and auditing the entire codebase.
- The author went the whole week without Codex and didn't miss it at all.
The author laments missing the supposedly bad Claude 4.6 era and wonders if this razor's edge will continue.
