Open-source split-orchestrator plugin: Opus plans and reviews, Sol subagents implement
kevinkern · x · 2026-10-04
Developer regenrek released split-orchestrator, a Claude Code plugin (with companion farcall-mcp) where a coordinator model (claude-opus-5-5, high) plans, decides, and does final acceptance while gpt-6.1-sol subagents build clearly scoped work slices via Farcall. A fresh Sol QA session tests the integrated app against the real application.
Key points:
- Clear ownership: one worker owns integration; the coordinator handles planning and final acceptance only
- Install via /plugin marketplace add regenrek/farcall-mcp and /plugin install split-orchestrator@split-orchestrator; requires Node 24+ and a signed-in Codex CLI
- Needs env vars like CLAUDECODEMCPAUTOBACKGROUNDMS=0 and MCPTOOLTIMEOUT=720000 to avoid MCP timeouts
