Researcher used AI to design antibodies and prove a Lean theorem, rejects doomerism
CatAstro_Piyush · x · 2026-10-03
A hands-on researcher lists six months of AI-assisted work: designing antibodies with better predicted binding affinity, thermostable proteins, proteins for cell therapies, plastic-degrading enzymes, and drug leads for cancer and immunology targets, plus a Lean-verified theorem on RNA structure. He says he never felt he was dealing with an uncontrollable 'alien intelligence' across frontier models, and while he fully supports AI safety, his experience leads him to reject doomerism.
